We, my lover and partner of the past 16 plus years got the impetus for CampBuckwood from our many visits to the wonderful Timberfell Lodge in Tennessee. We have owned this property since 2001 and bought it with the intention of converting it to an Exclusive Private Members Only Resort. As soon as we took possession of the property we immediately began the Administrative and Physical processes of achieving this goal. Learning from our previous business experience we particularly approached the Administrative end of the Project with the utmost diligence. We have made sure that all State of Indiana and Brown County Indiana Laws, Codes and Ordinances, License and Permits have been Properly Addressed and are Fully In Place. It is incredulously important to us that we and our members respect nature and our neighbors.
This is OUR first and only attempt to do such a business.
We offer Indoor Accommodations as well as Outdoor Accommodations through RV Sites as well as Tent Sites. Breakfast is served at 9am in the Lodge. DAY PASSES ARE OFFERED TO MEMBERS: Hours 10am until 9pm seven days a week. Holiday Day Passes require a reservation and are not always available.
In addition to our Large Rustic Lodge that sleeps lots, we have built (my cousin and I) a large Shower House / Comfort Station to go along with a Large Pole Barn, a Small Horse Barn as well as a Quant Cabin and Green House behind the Lodge.
A Heated In ground Aloha style Pool with Large Deck for sun bathing is placed beautifully in the Privacy of Our Property near the Large Shower House. This area is a wonderful place to take sun, cool off or just relax. There is Lots of Recreation here at CampBuckwood. Sand Volleyball is very popular as is Scrabble and Card Games as well as Bocce Ball, Bad Mitten, Croquet, Horse Shoe Pits and fishing.
We have a beautiful hiking/walking trail that will let you become even more in touch with nature. In the unlikely event that you may venture off the clearly marked hiking/walking trail, Our Property Boundary is Clearly Marked By Yellow Safety Cable. Please respect the Property Boundary at All Times.
The entire property including the Lodge, Shower House and RV and Tent Sites we have Installed County Water.
The RV Sites are each equipped with 50/30/20 amp service in addition to Water. We have a Dump Station for the Convenience of our RV Guests.
Pull up Unloading and Loading is a major Plus for Our Tent Sites as well is the Water Hydrants located at the Tent Area. There is lots of Parking too.
This beautiful 48.6 acre 4 bedroom retreat is nestled in the rolling hills of historic northeastern Brown County, Indiana and sits down a three tenths of a mile private lane. The property was once the site of a Small One Room School House with the original foundation still on location.
Surrounded by nature in full bloom, wildlife is abundant. It is not uncommon to see wild turkey, deer, squirrels, foxes and rabbits. This natural getaway offers visitors sanctimonious seclusion and a chance to become one with nature.
Bring your Fishing Pole if you like to Fish. Our 2.5 acre lake is stocked with large mouth bass, catfish and blue gill. At sunrise and just before sunset the fish literally jump onto your hook. It also serves as an excellent natural swimming hole. Both joys can begin on the large wooden dock at the southern edge of the lake. You will commonly find lots of recreational activities going on here. Recreational activities include Sand Volleyball, Bocce ball, badminton, croquet, hill billy golf, bean bag corn hole, basketball etc.
The lodge has four full bathrooms and two half baths. Large Brown County stone fireplaces adorn both the sitting room and the 24 person seating dinning room with 25 foot vaulted ceilings.
Hardwood floors hand hewn from the property's trees that were put in place with nails left over from the building of barracks at near by Army base Camp Atterbury help to bring the outdoors in.
Only 33 miles from downtown Indianapolis, CampBUCKwood is just 11 miles north of the picturesque Artist Colony known as Little Nashville where you can peruse the many unique shops and the Little Nashville Opry with Big Name Entertainers . Be sure to purchase some home made apple butter or a hand sewn quilt before you leave. Nashville is also home to the over 15,000 acre State Park that is a must for everyone to visit and is the largest State park in Indiana. The nearby town of Bean Blossom has a huge Flea Market every weekend, and on many weekends they have live music festivals. Edinburgh Outlet Mall is also within 20 miles from CampBuckwood, some of the stores include; Eddie Bauer, Gap, Levi, Bass, and many more! Little Nashville during the fall and at Christmas time south of CampBuckwood is excellent for shopping as well as fall and winter time fun. There is lots to do if you choose to venture off property during the day! If you need direction or guidance on where to shop for food, clothes, art, novelties etc. be sure to ask in the office. We strongly urge our members to spend their money in Brown County Indiana for any last minute necessities, gifts or personal treats. Brown County Indiana has it all.
CampBUCKwood is 1.2 miles from the small town of Spearsville, Indiana.
The rolling hills of southern Indiana are especially beautiful in the Fall highlighted by natures changing colors but CampBUCKwood is an excellent get away for all 4 Seasons! (Thus the name of our lodge 4 Seasons Lodge.)
Your Enjoyment and Comfort is Our Number One Mission.
COME HAVE SOME FUN WITH US!
