Welcome to Camp Buckwood

We are a private, exclusive male, trans-friendly members-only resort (membership sign-up occurs at check-in) located in beautiful Brown County, Indiana. Within our male-only concept, we are different things for different people at different times, but everyone has an opportunity to experience Buckwood.

We wanted to build a place in Indiana where guys would feel comfortable just being themselves.  We have owned this property since 2001 and bought it with the intention of converting it to an exclusive and private members-only resort. As soon as we took possession of the property, we immediately began the administrative and physical processes of achieving our goal. Learning from our previous business experience, we approached the administrative end of the project with the utmost diligence.

We have made sure that all State of Indiana and Brown County Indiana Laws, Codes and Ordinances, License and Permits have been properly addressed and are fully in place. It is incredibly important to us that we and our members respect nature and our neighbors.

We look forward to you joining us!

An oasis and respite created just for you.

Rusty’s: Our Entertainment Barn

Rusty's Entertainment Barn

Rusty’s is located inside the large recreational barn is located across from the Lodge. This climate-controlled space provides an excellent entertainment space for multiple events throughout the season, including dance parties, karaoke, potluck dinners, and more!

Bare necessities: Our Shower Houses

Three shower houses provide a welcome respite any time. Two are located near the pools, and were completely renovated for the 2023 season.  The third shower house is attached to Rusty’s and it also received updates for the 2023 season.

A laundry facility with vending is available for those extended stays.

Our Beautiful Woods

Our beautiful wooded trails will let you become even more in touch with nature. In the unlikely event that you may venture off the clearly marked trails, our property boundary is clearly marked by a yellow cable. Please respect the property boundary at all times. We want to be good neighbors!

Special to everyone: Lake Shasta

Lake Shasta is a great place to enjoy!  Our 2.5 acre lake is stocked with Large Mouth Bass, Catfish and Blue Gill. At sunrise and just before sunset the fish literally jump onto your hook. No fishing license is required but bring your own fishing gear and bait.  It also serves as an excellent natural swimming hole. The dock on land and the floating dock provide a great place to hang out.  We have no lifeguard on duty so swimming is always at your own risk, and diving is strictly prohibited.

Our incredible food truck: Bucks Grill

Bucks Grill  is our poolside food truck.  Hungry? Don’t want to cook? We have you covered! The Grill is open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday serving up homemade meals and summer favorites. Check out the Bucks Grill page for more information.

Our Famous Wet Area

Our two heated pools, with large decks for sunning,  are placed beautifully in the privacy of our property. This area is a wonderful place to take sun, cool off or just relax. One of our pools has sun sails to cover the majority so you can enjoy and cool down in the shade, while our huge new pool is completely open to the gorgeous sun!   Euchre, Scrabble™, corn hole and card & board games are always on the menu.

Our hot tub has been touted as “the biggest in the US” according to a recent blogger who claims to have seen all campgrounds of this kind in the US. This is a hot spot (pun intended) of nighttime activity throughout the season.

Accommodations

Accommodations at Camp Buckwood

Camp Buckwood offers a variety of indoor and outdoor accommodations to suit every guest’s preference—including lodge rooms and suites, a bunkhouse, private cabins, and RV and tent sites. For those visiting for a shorter time, we also offer day passes.

The Camp Buckwood Lodge sits at the heart of the campground and exudes rustic charm. In 2024, we added a large covered wooden porch, improving accessibility by removing the entry steps. Inside the lodge, you’ll find soaring 25-foot vaulted ceilings and striking Brown County stone fireplaces in the spacious dining and hearth rooms. Each guest room is spacious and uniquely styled—offering a touch of luxury for those who prefer their camping with extra comfort. Hardwood floors and knotty pine walls, hand-hewn from trees on the property, were constructed using nails salvaged from the nearby Camp Atterbury barracks. Large picture windows throughout the lodge bring the beauty of the outdoors inside.

Cabins provide a more private, home-like stay. Each is well-appointed with a variety of amenities, which can be found in the Lodging & Rates menu.

RV sites come equipped with water and either 20, 30, or 50-amp electric service. Two dump stations are available on the property for your convenience.

Tent sites feature easy pull-up access for loading and unloading, with ample parking nearby. Water hydrants and wash sinks are conveniently located throughout the campground.

For full details and photos of all accommodations, please visit our Lodging & Rates menu.

Reservation Policy:
A two-night minimum stay is required on weekends, and a three-night minimum stay is required on holiday weekends (Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day). Event details for these weekends can be found on our Calendar page.
